London 2012: Day Three Review!

Here are some thoughts on day 3...

  • Dizzee Rascal and Paul McCartney showing, but the Spice Girls rumor was a hoax after all. Dizzee Rascal was performing 'Bonkers' not the song that is the official theme of the games. Paul McCartney should've performed the theme from 'Live and Let Die.'
  • Chris Hoy as Great Britain flag bearer! Sir Chris Hoy is the most dominant track cyclist within this decade, has four gold medals and won BBC Sport Personality of the Year 2008. Great call.
  • Weird seeing Usain Bolt as Jamaican flag bearer and Kirsty Coventry as Zimbabwe's flag bearer. Remember that Coventry isn't in action Saturday, but will be in action in the week, possibly in her event, the 200m back, where she has won that event in the Olympics at Athens and Beijing.
  • Love seeing the fireworks display, the parachuting QE and Bond cameo, and Mr. Bean.
  • Flag bearers with sporting siblings-Aga Radwanska (Poland, Urszula is a WTA pro herself); Pau Gasol (Spain, Marc-like Pau-we'll don't need to compare either, since I've seen both these past NBA seasons), and Jason Dunford (Kenya, David is also a swimmer too).
  • Oh yeah, and an archery world record fell prior to opening ceremonies.
That's all I can think of. Day 4 is already underway!
