London 2012: The Countdown Series: Archery Preview

20 days left until the first day of the London Olympics. This is a preview of the archery competition at the London Games.

The venue of the archery at the London games is a very important venue for cricket-Lord's Cricket Ground (pictured). 128 participants (64 men and 64 women) representing 40 countries will take part in the archery events at the London games this year.

On the men's side, Viktor Ruban is the defending champion of the individual competition from Beijing 2008. Only Darrell Pace has won the event multiple times. Ruban is trying to tie Pace for most wins in the men's individual with two. South Korea is the defending champions in the men's team and has dominated the event with four wins, and is trying to add a fifth.

On the women's side, there is no repeat winner in the individual event. Zhang Jumjuan is the defending winner of the event from Beijing 2008. South Korea, the defending team event champion has won all six of the women's team events in the Olympics. No others have done that, as they're going for their sixth.

Up next: a look at beach volleyball.
