London 2012: The Countdown is OVER.

A final thought, since this is the last entry of the Countdown Series. There's a constant reminder about the Olympics in general. Baron de Coubertin brought these games from the dead to a more modern light in 1896 in Athens. It is meant to be apolitical and friendly. For these 19 days, we must remind ourselves that when we watch these events, to not bring up politics whatsoever. Save it for later. There are some knobheads who do so, and ruins the complexity of it all. Let's not do that.

Also, thousands of athletes-young and old-participating in the 36 events have trained their asses and earned their way to London. Be thankful that they did.

If you're there in the UK for any of the events in the next two weeks, please be mindful of your surroundings and be on your best behavior.

With that in mind...let the Games of the XXX Olympiad begin!
