London 2012: The Countdown Series: Canoe Sprint Preview

15 days to go until the first day of the London Olympics. Here is a preview of the canoe sprint races at the London games.


Eton Dorney (pictured) will be the venue for the canoe sprint events at the London games. 161 men and women, representing 49 countries, will conquer the lake for the event.

Historically suggest that in the men's 100m C1, defending Olympic champion Attila Vajda is hoping to score another win and tie the mark set by Josef Holecek for most wins in the event with two.

On the women's side, defending Olympic champion Inna Osypenko is hoping to tie Lyudmila Pinayeva and Birgit Fischer for most wins in the 500m K1 with two each. Germany is the defending champions of the 500m K4 and holds the most wins in that event with four.

Three events will debut at London: the men's 200m C1 and 200m C2, and the women's 200m K1.
