London 2012: The Countdown Series: Is it July 25 Yet?

Only five days left to go until the first day of the London Olympics! Are you ready for some football?

That football. World football. And Wednesday's first matches in the women's portion of the football will kickstart the events that is the Games of the XXX Olympiad.

The Japanese women's national team, your 2011 Women's World Cup champions who defeated the USWMT in the final last July (via PK's?) have some returning players from last year, the same with the USWMT. Japan begins play with Canada (who will host the Women's World Cup in 2015) on Wednesday. Also on the same day, the USWMT begins play with France, which should be the best match of the day.

Wednesday's women's football matches:
Great Britain v New Zealand
Japan v Canada
United States v France
Cameroon v Brazil
Sweden v South Africa
Colombia v Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea)
