London 2012: The Countdown Series: Mountain Bike Racing Preview

22 days to go until the first day of the London Olympics. This is a preview of the mountain bike racing at the London Olympics.

Picturesque Hadleigh Farm (pictured) will be the venue of the men's and women's cross-country mountain bike racing at the London Olympics.

This event has been on the summer games menu since Atlanta 1996. Julien Absalon has won two of those events, including at Beijing 2008, where he is the defending Olympics champion. Absalon is trying to get his third win in the men's cross country final.

Sabine Spitz is trying to go that similar route, but instead, is looking to tie Paola Pezzo for most wins in the women's cross country final with two each. Spitz is the defending Olympics champion from Beijing 2008.

80 riders from 37 countries will participate in this event at the London games.

Up next: a look at shooting.
