The Road to the Superdome Starts Tonight!

With the Final Four returning to the Superdome this year for the first time since 2003, sadly, not one school from Louisiana is in the men's tourney this year. However, with the extension of the field to 68, there is sure to be the same out shit like every year.

Man, how the NCAA D-I men's tournament has evolved. First, it was about 25 schools, then went to 64 in 1982 (the year CBS took over NBC as far as TV rights), then 65 over a decade ago, and now 68.

Some interesting matchups to look forward to in this first week. The four play-ins, in which begin tonight will kick off with SWAC tournament champs Mississippi Valley State against the Sun Belt's Western Kentucky. Southland tourney champs Lamar will play in one of the play-ins against America East tourney champs Vermont.

Syracuse, Kentucky, Michigan State and North Carolina are the number one seeds. Again, it begins tonight, kicking off the hectic NCAA spring championships, in which it ends in April with both the men's and women's Final Fours and the Division I men's Frozen Four (in Tampa, nonetheless).
