125 days to go until the first day of the London Olympics. Next up on the parade of nations: Lebanon (LIB).
Lebanon has participated in the summer Olympics since 1948. Only 4 medals have been won by Lebanese athletes in these summer games. None of those medals were gold.
Two of the four medals are silver medals. Zakaria Chihab won silver in the the Greco-Roman bantamweight class of wrestling at Helsinki 1952. Their other silver was by Mohamed Kheir Tarabulsi, who won a silver in the men's middleweight class of weightlifting at Munich 1972.
The other two were bronze medals. Wrestler Khalil Taha won bronze at Helsinki 1952 in the Greco-Roman welterweight class. Another wrestler, Hassan Ali Bechara, won bronze at Moscow 1980 in the Greco-Roman super heavyweight class.
As of now, three Lebanese athletes are headed to London to compete in three events: swimming, taekwondo and table tennis.
Up next: Liberia
