NCAA Division I Basketball & Men's Ice Hockey Championships. A Preview.

This weekend will begin a week full of NCAA championship action at the Division I level, with the men's Final Four in New Orleans for the first time since 2003. The women's Final Four is in Denver, and the men's ice hockey Frozen Four is in Tampa as well.

The last time the men's Final Four was held in the Superdome was when Syracuse defeated Kansas in the championship game, back in 2003. This year, there will be no rematch of the 2003 championship game. Why? I'll explain. Syracuse lost to Ohio State in the East region final on Saturday, while KU will be there this year through knocking off North Carolina in the Midwest region final this past weekend.

So many great moments happened when the Final Four took place in the Superdome, from Michael Jordan to Chris Webber's "I'll call time out...oh wait...we have no time outs! We're fucked!" What amazing will happen on Saturday and Monday?

SATURDAY 3.31
(1S) Kentucky v (4W) Louisville
(2E) Ohio State v (2MW) Kansas

The women's Final Four, at Denver's Pepsi Center, home of the Avs and Nuggets, seemed to have all the number ones playing this weekend. Not surprising. I am hoping for a Baylor-Notre Dame final on Tuesday!

SUNDAY 4.1
(1DM) Baylor v (1F) Stanford
(1R) Notre Dame v (1K) Connecticut

Finally, the men's Frozen Four, at Tampa's Times Forum (home of the Lightning), will boast two new faces to the Frozen Four as Union (NJ) and Ferris State (MN) are making their first appearance in the Frozen Four. Always nice to see a small program get this far, and both will play on Thursday in a semifinal. RIT in 2010 is a perfect example.

THURSDAY 4.5

Men's Final Four is on CBS. Women's Final Four and the men's Frozen Four are exclusive to the ESPN networks. Gonna be a roller coaster week for sure.
