129 days to go until the first day of the London Olympics. Next up on the parade of nations: Kenya (KEN).
Since 1956, Kenya has participated in the summer Olympics. A total of 75 medals have been won by Kenyan athletes, mostly in various athletics events.
Kip Keino (pictured) remains to this day the only multiple Olympic gold medalist from Kenya. At Mexico City 1968, he won the men's 1500m final and followed it up with a gold win in the 3000m steeplechase final.
22 different Kenyan athletes have won at least one gold medal each in the summer Olympics. One of the most recent gold medalists is Sammy Wanjiru, who won the men's marathon at Beijing 2008. Sadly, he died from a fall that took place during an ongoing domestic dispute back in May.
As of now, 43 Kenyan athletes are headed to London and will compete only in various athletics and swimming events.
Next up: Kuwait
