London 2012: The Countdown Series: Haiti

143 days to go until the first day of the London Olympics. Next up on the parade of nations: Haiti (HAI).

Since 1900, the country has participated in the summer Olympics. Two medals have been won by Haitian athletes in these summer games.

Sylvio Cator (pictured) is the only Olympian from Haiti that won an individual medal in the summer Olympics. Cator won silver at Amsterdam 1928 in the men's long jump.

Their only medal was in the team level, where their men's free rifle team (shooting) won bronze at Paris 1924 in the 400m, 600m and 800m events.

The London Olympics will mark Haiti's first Olympics since their devastating earthquake that rocked their country almost two years ago. Only one representative at the moment from Haiti will be there, in the men's triple jump (athletics).

Up next: Hong Kong
