London 2012: The Countdown Series: Kyrgyzstan

127 days to go until the first day of the London Olympics. Up next on the parade of nations: Kyrgyzstan (KGZ).

The former Soviet republic has participated in the summer Olympics since 1996. Three medals have been won by Kyrgyz athletes in these summer games.

Although no Kyrgyz athlete has won a gold medal in the summer games, there's already a silver medal for the Kyrgyz to be proud of. Wrestler Kanat Begaliev (pictured) won silver in the Greco-Roman heavyweight final after his loss to Steeve Guenot (FRA) at Beijing 2008.

The other two medals for Kyrgyzstan in the summer games are bronze medals. Judoken Aydin Samgulov won bronze in the men's extra lightweight class at Sydney 2000, while Ruslan Tyumenbayev won gold in the men's lightweight class in the Greco-Roman wrestling at Beijing 2008.

As of now, 2 Kyrgyz athletes are headed to London to compete in 2 events-taekwondo and shooting.

Up next: Latvia
