London 2012: Day Fifteen Review!

Some thoughts from day 15:
  • Bulgaria's men's volleyball continues to surprise everyone as they march on to the semifinals!
  • Now that Hungary and the USA are out of the men's water polo tournament, will Serbia go through? My what a comeback by the Serbians against Australia from three goals down to win!
  • Congrats to Wu Jingwu and Joal Gonzalez, first gold medalist in the London games in taekwondo!
  • Spain/France men's basketball was so brutal to watch in the final moments. First a hard foul on Rudy Fernandez, and that low blow which almost causes the benches to clear. Now that's basketball!
  • What a fourth quarter for the USA men against Australia, and seeing Kobe nail three after three after three.
  • Tough break for Dayron Robles in the 110m hurdles final. It appeared he got hurt after he fell over a hurdle. Remember he was the defending Olympic champion in that event.
  • Argentina against Netherlands in women's hockey final! Dutch women's semifinal match with New Zealand was such an exciting match! Yes, even the Fratellis' 'Chelsea Dagger' was blasting at Riverbank after the game winning goal (the song's not just for Hawks fans.)!
  • Sweden-Denmark men's handball quarterfinal an exciting match until Sweden put it away in the final few seconds with a goal to advance to the semifinals.
  • A swan song for Misty May Treanor as she and partner Kerri Walsh Jennings won their third (and final) gold together in women's beach volleyball after their two set win in the final against Jen Kessy and April Ross. An all-American final. Last night, in an interview with Bob Costas on the NBC prime-time show, Kerri said she will continue and will work with another partner for future AVP and FIVB events, whilst Misty retires.
  • For the record, soon-to be future former number 1's Juliana Silva and Larissa Franca won bronze in their match as well.
Don't forget! Huge day for us in the states. USA's women's water polo and football teams playing for their respective gold medals later today (or tonight over there). The women's water polo plays Espana, while women's football has a World Cup 2011 rematch with Japan.

Women's basketball semifinals (Russia/France and Australia/United States), women's volleyball semifinals (Brazil/Japan and South Korea/United States), and men's beach volleyball final are also on tap as well for day 16!
