London 2012: The Countdown Series: Qatar

95 days to go until the first day of the London Olympics. Up next on the parade of nations: Qatar (QAT).

Qatar has participated in the summer Olympics since 1984. Only two medals were won by Qattari athletes in the summer games.

Those two medals were bronze medals. The first medal in the Olympics for Qatar came at Barcelona 1992 when Mohamed Suleiman won the men's 1500m (athletics) final. The other medal in the Olympics for Qatar came when Assaid Said Saif won bronze in the men's heavyweight class of weightlifting, at Sydney 2000. The most recent medal for Qatar in the Olympics.

As of now, 14 Qattari athletes are headed to London to compete in two events-shooting as well as various athletics events.

Up next: Romania
