London 2012: The Countdown Series: Mozambique

112 days to go until the first day of the London Olympics. Next up on the parade of nations: Mozambique (MOZ).

Mozambique has participated in the summer Olympics since 1980. Only two medals have been won by their athletes.

Maria Mutola (center, with the tag number 2588) is the only medalist from Mozambique in the Olympics. She won those two medals for Mozambique-a bronze at Atlanta 1996 and gold at Sydney 2000-both of which were in the women's 800m (athletics).

As of now, one athlete from Mozambique is headed to London and will compete in the men's 400m hurdles (athletics).

Up next: Namibia
