London 2012: The Countdown Series: Pakistan

104 days to go until the first day of the London Olympics. Next up on the parade of nations: Pakistan (PAK).

Pakistan has participated in the summer Olympics since 1948, and a total of ten medals have been won by Pakistani athletes in the summer games, including three gold medals.

The only three gold medals in the summer games that were won by Pakistan, were those by the men's (field) hockey team. At Rome 1960, they won gold after defeating India in the final. Eight years later, at Mexico City 1968, they defeated Australia in the final. Their most recent Olympic win was at Los Angeles 1984, when they defeated West Germany in the final.

As of now, the only Pakistani representation at London will be that of the men's (field) hockey team.

Up next: Panama
