Sochi 2014: The Countdown Series: Hungary

76 days remaining until the opening ceremonies (75 until the first day of competition) at Sochi 2014. Up next on the countdown: Hungary.


Hungary made its debut in the winter Olympics at Chamonix 1924, and has sent athletes to every winter Olympics games ever since. Six medals have been won by Hungarians in the winter games, none gold, but two silver medals.


Krisztina Regoczy and Andras Sallay (pictured) won the most recent medal for Hungary in the winter games, with a silver in the mixed ice dancing competition at Lake Placid 1980. Andrea Kekesy and Ede Kiraly both won a silver together in the pairs figure skating event at St. Moritz 1948. Beside those silver medals, the other medals were bronze.

As of now, Hungary will send athletes to Sochi.
