Cyprus made their official winter Olympics debut at Lake Placid 1980, and has sent an athlete to the winter games ever since. A Cypriot that has participated in the winter games have competed in only one winter games sport--alpine skiing. Not one have been successful enough to win a medal.
Despite financial issues with the country's government, there haven't been any representation for Cyprus at Sochi as of yet, but could change.
