148 days to go until the start of the London Olympics. Next up on the parade of nations: Ghana (GHA).
The nation has participated in the summer Olympics since 1952. Only four medals were won by Ghanian athletes; none of them gold medals.
Boxer Ike Quartey brought home the lone silver for Ghana, in his loss in the men's light heavyweight final bout to Bohumil Nemecek (Czechoslovakia) at Rome 1960.
Three bronze medals were won by Ghanian athletes. Boxer Eddie Blay won a bronze in his third place win in the men's light heavyweight at Tokyo 1964. Another boxer, Prince Amartey, won the bronze in his third place match in the men's middleweight at Munich 1972. Their men's football (soccer) team won bronze at Barcelona 1992.
As of now, four Ghanian athletes will compete in only athletics, and in four events: men's long jump and 100m, and women's 200m and heptatlon.
Up next: Greece
