London 2012: The Countdown Series: Croatia

169 days to go until the start of the London games. Up next on the parade of nations: Croatia (CRO).

A part of the former Yugoslavia, Croatia first participated in the summer Olympics at Barcelona 1992, after the breakup of Yugoslavia. Since then, 17 medals were won by Croatian athletes.

Nikolay Pesarov (pictured) remains the only individual medalist for Croatia. The weightlifter won gold in the featherweight class at Sydney 2000. The other gold medals won for Croatia was by the men's handball team-at both Atlanta 1996 and Athens 2004.

As of now, 46 athletes will represent the country in 12 events-including various athletics and swimming events, as well as judo, taekwondo, wrestling and water polo.

Up next: Cuba
