With 204 days left until the first day of business of the Summer Games of the XXX Olympiad in London, there are 204 different stories, from the expected 204 nations participating to the other shit that's out there.
Throughout this next month, I'm counting down the days with some shit-some great, some obvious, but a lot of things to chew on here on my blog.
Today, I'm gonna kick things off with the profiles of the 144 nations that qualified for London in July, starting in alphabetical order-beginning with Afghanistan, and saving Great Britain for last (of course).
The first nation to be listed alphabetically according to alphabet is Afghanistan (AFG). As of November, two taekwondo athletes have qualified-Nesar Ahmed Bahave and Rohullah Nikpai. Nikpai (pictured) brought home the nation's first (and only) Olympic medal in 2008, bringing the bronze home in the 58kg category. Bahave earned silver at the 2007 World Championships.
The country has sent athletes to the summer Olympics since the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
Next up: Albania, as I go alphabetically through the list of nations qualified (so far) for the London Olympics in July.
