London 2012: The Countdown Series: Burundi

181 days to go until London. Next on the parade of nations: Burundi (BDI).

The African nation has appeared in the summer Olympics since 1996, and only one medal was won by one of their athletes in the summer games.

At Atlanta 1996, in the country's first appearance in the summer games, Venuste Niyongabo won the men's 5000m (athletics). To this day, the only medal won by an athlete from Burundi.

As of now, only one competitor will represent the country at London in July-in the women's marathon.

Up next: Cameroon
