And the Verdict on Donald Sterling is...

The press conference by Adam Silver Monday, his first big task three months in as NBA commissioner:

It's a good decision, but why not strip the team out of draft picks as well?

NBPA response:

And now ten owners want to buy the team. Sadly and realistically, the team will not face relocation to Seattle. But who knows.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: SEBalter "Hunter of Stars"

Switzerland yet again sending more alternative music this year! For Copenhagen, it will be Sebalter (pictured) with "Hunter of Stars."

"Hunter of Stars" is a very cool, very folk-ish alternative song, complete with great vocals. Whistling is included as well. Overall, it is a song too good for the event. He will perform in the second semifinal next Thursday. He will qualify for the grand final and could be a contender to win it all next Saturday night.

Next year is the 60th edition of the ESC. The first was in 1956 when Lys Assia won the event with "Refrain" in Lugano, for Switzerland. Switzerland has been a part of this event since then, and has sent some of the best songs known to man for all of Europe (and the world) to enjoy. Sinplus' "Unbreakable" (2012) is still the greatest Swiss song ever in ESC, though it didn't make the final in Baku. Last year, despite the name change, Heilsarmee (Takasa) had a good one as well, "You and Me." Some other great ESC songs of the past from Switzerland include Lovebugs' "The Highest Heights" (2009), Pino Gasparini & Mariella Farre "Piano Piano" (1985), and Lys Assia "Giorgio" (1958) just to name a few. This no doubt will join the ranks as one of the best Switzerland has sent to the event. Good luck.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Sanna Nielsen "Undo"

After seven appearances in the Melodifestivalen, Sanna Nielsen (pictured) will finally represent Sweden in ESC. And in Copenhagen, she will sing "Undo."

"Undo" is a ballad that is all the way soft. Vocals are okay, typical of mainstream pop. It is an okay track. She will perform in the first semifinal next Tuesday. However, since the first semifinal will be the toughest of the two semifinals and anyone of those fifteen can advance, she might not make it to the grand final on Saturday. For some reason.

Sweden has been an integral part of the ESC for five decades. When it comes to Sweden in the ESC, you should know that the best entry is Loreen Talhaoui "Euphoria," the 2012 winner. Second most points ever in an ESC grand final. The second best ESC entry for Sweden in my opinion: Roger Pontare with "When Spirits Are Calling My Name," from 2000 (contest took place in Stockholm that year), in which he excited the crowd in the grand final. Also some other great ESC entries from Sweden that come to mind: Afro-Dite "Never Let It Go" (2002), Tomas Ledin "Just Nu!" (1980) & Bjorn Skifs "Fangad I En Drom" (1981). Some of the best ever for Sweden in the history of the event. This song might not be up there, but it is reasonable.

Donald Sterling and the Fallout from His Sentiments.

It all started with the phone chat. Wiretapping or not?

Followed by the silent protest on Sunday:

And even more fallout as sponsors begin to pull out.

Will the Clippers go bankrupt? Or force to relocate? To Seattle?

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Ruth Lorenzo "Dancing in the Rain"

Ruth Lorenzo (pictured) is the representative for Spain at Copenhagen 2014 with the ballad "Dancing in the Rain."

"Dancing in the Rain" is a power ballad that starts soft and gets hard. Typical of a ballad. Since Spain is among the 'Big Six' of the ESC, she will perform next Saturday in the grand final only. Does she have a shot to win? Not really, it's a good, reasonable song, but I think it will finish way down towards the bottom.

Spain has been a part of the ESC landscape for about five decades. They have had some awesome songs of the past ESC's including Beth "Dime" (2003, best ESC entry from Spain), Cadillac "Valentino" (1986) and Rosa "Europe's Living a Celebration" (2002) just to name a few. Even the past two years were good, with Pastora Soler "Quedate Conmigo" (2012) and El Sueno de Morfeo "Contigo Hasta el Final" (2013) giving what real Eurofans want. This song might be okay, but not one of the best that Spain has sent to an ESC, but good nonetheless.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Tinkara Kovac "Spet"

Slovenia is that 'other' former Yugoslavian country (besides Montenegro and Macedonia) that will participate in Copenhagen in a couple weeks. For that country, Tinkara Kovac (pictured) will perform "Spet."

"Spet" (not 'spit') is a great song with a great beat and great vocals. End of story. She will perform next Thursday (5/8) in the second semifinal. With a tough second semifinal (exceptions: Belarus and Poland), it will be close for her to qualify for the grand final next Saturday. With that in mind, she might not make it to the final. But it is a good song nonetheless. The Slovene version is the best version.

I really enjoyed "Straight into Love" by Hannah Mancini from last year (despite only eight points in the first semifinal in Malmo), however when it comes to Slovenia in the ESC, "Na Na Na" by Karmen Stavec (2003) is still the best Slovenian song in the event. Nusa Derenda's "Energy" (2001) is also good as well. Just to name a few. This could join the ranks as one of the best ESC songs for Slovenia since their first year of participation in this event.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Valentina Monetta "Maybe (Forse)"

For the third consecutive year, San Marino will have Valentina Monetta (pictured) represent the tiny Mediterranean country in Copenhagen with the song "Maybe (Forse)."

"Maybe (Forse)" is a very soft ballad, very atmospheric which suits her vocals a lot better than "Crisalide (Vola)" last year. She will perform in the first semifinal one week from Tuesday. In a very stacked, competitive first semifinal, I think it will be very tough to get into the final in two weeks. Therefore, she might not qualify, but who knows! Everyone in the first semifinal (even Portugal for the chavs and scum who talk shit about it) has a chance. I said it, and if you hate it, then you're not a real Eurofan. Plain and simple.

San Marino made their ESC debut in 2008. Monetta has represented the tiny country since Baku 2012. That year, "Facebook" failed to qualify for the first semifinal. The following year, "Crisalide" followed suit, except it was better than "Facebook" (I called it as it was originally was before the mandatory ESC/EBU change for copyright infringement, of course). Hopefully, she'll give the San Marinnese a chance to finally give them a break in the ESC scene. Besides this and "Crisalide," I have never really enjoyed anything ESC-wise from this country.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: The Sisters Tolmachevy "Shine"

Russia will return to ESC despite the political crisis between them and Ukraine. It will be a pair of siblings that will be their representative in Copenhagen in two weeks, as the Sisters Tolmachevy (pictured) will perform "Shine."

"Shine" is a simple, but good alternative song with good vocals that aren't mainstream. Plain and simple. They will perform in the first semifinal and will qualify for the grand final. How would you guys feel if both Russian and Ukrainian (more later) entries qualify for the final in the midst of their political run-ins at the current time? Could be weird.

As far as Russia goes in the ESC landscape, the Buranovskie Babushki's "Party for Everybody" from Baku 2012 (finished runners-up in final to Loreen Talhaoui) is to me the best and greatest song for Russia in the ESC of all time. End of story. This song is good too, and so was last year's song, "What If?" by Dina Garipova. Good luck.

Friday Jukebox 4.25.14

It has been 20 years since Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain was found dead of a suspected heroin overdose in his apartment. Nirvana was among a plethora of bands that was the forefront of the 'grunge' scene in Seattle back in the early '90s. Nevermind, from 1993, was a breakthrough album at the time, featuring "Smells Like Teen Spirit" ('Weird Al' Yankovic did a parody entitled "Smells Like Nirvana") and this one, "Come As You Are."

Also, Weird Al's Off the Deep End(?) cover was based upon the Nevermind album cover, but in a different way.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Ovi Cernauteanu featuring Paula Seling "Miracle"

Romania will have a duet for Copenhagen this year, as Ovi Cernauteanu and Paula Seling (pictured) team up to try to bring a victory for that country with "Miracle."

"Miracle" is another good club tune (and in Romania, house music is huge there), that starts slow and kicks in with huge energy. Both vocals are great, and is basically flawless. These two will perform in the second semifinal on Thursday, the 8th of May. I predict that these two will qualify for the final on Saturday, the 10th of May.

Romania keeps it coming in the ESC. Even though I liked last year's song, "It's My Life" by Florin Cesar Ouatu, I still think Luminita Anghel's "Let Me Try" from 2005 is still the best ESC entry from Romania. Other than that, that is it. This song is pretty good as well; it may not have a good chance at a win, but worth listening to. Good luck.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Suzy Guerra "Quero Ser Tua"

Just like Poland, Portugal is also back in ESC this year, with something that some like, and some don't (as is every other ESC entry this year or in the past). Suzy Guerra (pictured) will be Portugal's first ESC representative since Filipa Sousa in 2012, and will perform "Quero Ser Tua" in Copenhagen next month.

"Quero Ser Tua"--through the rhythm of the course of the song--pays homage to the Portuguese spoken areas of the world (including Brazil). The song has good vocals and rhythm nonetheless. She will perform in the first semifinal. She will be one of those in that tough first semifinal that will be borderline, however she might not make it. I like the song though, but a really tough semifinal, which she will perform in on Tuesday, the 6th of May.

I don't know what the fuss is about, but why are those who watched the Portuguese national final think that this other random song should've won? I mean, come on man! Look at some of the dislikes on YouTube of anything related to this song. These dislikes come from those molly-popping, latte-sipping, mainstream, top 40 listening, low life pieces of shit devil worshipping scum (and they could be Beliebers, One Directioners and/or Rihanna or Katy Perry fanboys/fangirls, or even Floyd Mayweather fans a.k.a. 'The Money Team'). They're not real Eurofans. The ESC is meant for fun, not to be treated as a sport (which it is in some cases).

As for the history of Portugal in ESC, the late Carlos Paiao's "Playback" (1981) is to me the greatest ESC entry from Portugal. Sofia Vitoria's "Foi Magia" (2004) and Da Vinci's "Conquistador" (1989) are not far behind. I even also liked "Vida Minha" by Filipa Sousa from 2012. Great stuff, just to name a few. This song might not be among the ranks, but it's good and uptempo and easy to enjoy nonetheless. Good luck.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Donatan featuring Cleo "My Slowianie"

For the first time since 2011, Poland has returned to the ESC landscape, but not in a good way. For Copenhagen, it will be producer Donatan with "My Slowianie."

"My Slowianie"--produced by Donatan featuring Cleo--is a very risqué tune, that is so risqué it is horrible. The beats, the lyrics, it's like you're listening to a modern day top 40 song (i.e. Rihanna among others). I mean, come on man! You guys should do better than that! Donatan is a hip hop producer, and as we all know Poland has a huge hip hop community there. The sad part is, I feel that this song, due to the beat, vocals, and style, is (in my opinion) this year's nul points contender. That's right. A big, fat zero. They will perform in the second semifinal on Thursday, the 8th of May. That could be it for them in Copenhagen.

Last year, I predicted "Marry Me!" by Krista Siegfrids was going to be a nul points contender, but it shocked me to no avail that it made the final (and I was questioning myself and shaking my head at that). Before that, the JEDWARD songs "Lipstick" and "Waterline" from 2011 and 2012 should have gotten nul points as well. Gipsy.cz's "Aven Romale" from 2009 is the most recent ESC song to get nul points, causing the Czechs to not return to the event. I thought "Aven Romale" was good, but heaps better than this song, "Marry Me!", "Lipstick," "Waterline" and the Spain 2006 (Las Ketchup) and Greece 2008 (Kalomira?) entries as well, which should've been disqualified at first just for lameness. As for Poland in ESC, I've only liked Magdalena Tul's "Jestem," and that's it. Other than that, it's all mediocrity in ESC for this country. Welcome back Poland, and please rethink for the 60th ESC next year.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Carl Espen "Silent Storm"

Another winner for Norway in ESC! Hopefully this man--Carl Espen (pictured)--can deliver for his country in Copenhagen with a stunning ballad entitled "Silent Storm."

"Silent Storm" is a powerful piano-based ballad so powerful, last year's ESC champion Emmelie de Forest picked this song as the song to win it all in Copenhagen. Seriously. I like this song and it is one of the best ballads I've heard in ESC recently. The flow and vocals are excellent here. He will perform in the second semifinal on Thursday, the 8th of May. He will qualify for the grand final, and could be a contender to win. I'm not joking.

Since the virtual let down of Touraj 'Tooji' Keshtkar's "Stay" (which barely made the grand final at Baku 2012, and finished toward the bottom of the barrel in that grand final), Norway has come on fire in ESC, with this and last year with Margaret Berger's "I Feed You My Love," which had a good reasonable (I think) finish in the grand final. Before 2012, with the exception of Ketil Stokkan ("Brandenberger Tor" in 1990), Jahn Teigen ("Mil Etter Mil" in 1978) and of course, the hard rockers Wig Wam ("In My Dreams" from 2005, the best ESC song from Norway in my opinion), there haven't been much to offer for this country in ESC. This song should join the ranks as one of the best from Norway in ESC. Wish for the best.

This is Easter, not weed day. So I'm wondering if there have been any Easter egg hunts this weekend where the eggs contain weed in them (possibly in states like Washington and Colorado)? Who knows. The Cadbury Bunny knows. Probably.

HAPPY EASTER!

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: The Common Linnets "The Calm After the Storm"

The Dutch will have something to cheer about next month in Copenhagen. Here we have another potential ESC 2014 winner in the duo called the Common Linnets (pictured), who will represent the Dutch in Copenhagen with "The Calm After the Storm."

"The Calm After the Storm" is really one of the best Dutch ESC entries I've basically enjoyed in quite sometime. Some say it is country, but not really. It is truly adult alternative at its finest. I like this song, the vibe and the vocals. It almost reminds me of the Police's "Every Breath You Take"--one of the best hits for both the band and their lead singer Sting (the singer, not the wrestler)--in this sense. That was a great song, and so is this one. As for Common Linnets' status in Copenhagen, they will perform in the first semifinal on Tuesday, the 6th of May. This song is so good, they'll make the grand final on Saturday, the 10th of May. They will be a contender for sure.

The Netherlands in ESC has had some good entries, including those from the likes of Humphrey Campbell ("Wis Me De Weg," 1992) and Edsilia Rombley ("Hemel en Aaarde," 1998) just to name a few. This country has had okay entries recently including Joan Franka "You and Me" (2012) and Anouk "Birds" (2013), just to name a few. Not much to enjoy from the Dutch in ESC, but this song is a game changer. Wish them the best.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Sergej Cetkovic "Moj Svijet"

For the eighth consecutive year in a row, the nation of Crna Gora (Montenegro) will be a part of the ESC. This year, heading into Copenhagen, comes a powerful ballad by Sergej Cetkovic (pictured), called "Moj Svijet."

"Moj Svijet" is a very soft ballad, that is euphoric and very melodic. I like it to the point that it almost raises the same intensity of pop folker Zeljko Joksimovic's "Nije Ljubav Stvar" from 2012. The two songs aren't alike, but are so intense. He will perform in the first semifinal on Tuesday, the 6th of May. I'll predict that he will be borderline, hence he will make the grand final on Saturday, the 10th of May.

Montenegro has been a part of the ESC since 2007 (split as an independent nation from Serbia in 2006). I liked Stevan Faddy's "Ajde Croci" from their first year in ESC. Say what you want, but I do like the last couple of years for Montenegro in the ESC. Last year, with the Who See Klapa "Igranka" and the funny (and I don't understand why some think it was the worst, you silly top 40 music sheeple!), yet over-political "Euro Neuro" by Rambo Amadeus in 2012. Those are my opinion and I'm sticking to it. They didn't make the grand final respectively, but Sergej can. Wish the best.

NBA Playoffs 2014 Begins Easter Weekend!

Ladies and gentlemen, the Toronto Raptors are back in the playoffs.

Now they can have the ACC by themselves this year and as Atlantic champions, they are the third seed in the Eastern Conference, as they open up their 2014 playoff campaign with the Nets.

Also in the East, the Bobcats are also in the playoffs this year. Great turn around there. Too bad they play the Heat in the East quarterfinals. The Wizards are also back in the playoffs as they have the Bulls in the East quarterfinals.

After a year on hiatus, the Mavericks are also back in the playoffs, this time a more geographically sound first round match with the Spurs. Eight versus one.

With that in mind...the conference quarterfinals!

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Cristina Scarlat "Wild Soul"

For Moldova in Copenhagen, it is Chisinau-born and raised Cristina Scarlat (pictured) with "Wild Soul."

"Wild Soul" is so boring to my taste. It is too soft and too nocturnal. Also the dubstep element basically killed it. She will perform in the first semifinal on Tuesday, the 6th of May. I got a feeling that she won't qualify for the grand final the following Saturday (the 10th).

What has happened to Moldova in the ESC. Besides Zdob si Zdub (in 2005 and especially 2011 with "So Lucky"-one of my favorite ESC songs ever) and Arsenium ("Loca" in 2006), there have been some very mediocre entries from this country in the ESC, but the last couple of years for this country sucked ass the respective songs should have never reached the final. I'm talking about Pasha Parfeny "Lautar" (2012) and Aliona Moon "O Mie" (2013, co-written by Parfeny), songs that are too boring for my taste that shouldn't make the grand finals respectively. Same as this one. When will Zdob si Zdub come back to excite the fans? I guess Moldova wants a way out of the ESC as soon as possible.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Firelight "Coming Home"

You want a winner for Copenhagen 2014, look up to the band Firelight (pictured), the Maltese outfit who will perform in Copenhagen next month with "Coming Home."

I know some might notice, but "Coming Home" resembles a Mumford & Sons song. It has that flow, but not a straight plagiarism as some of these faux Eurofans notice. But I love it, and it is the type of song that is needed in ESC. They will perform in second semifinal on Thursday, the 8th of May. They will qualify for the grand final, which will be on Saturday, the 10th of May. My feeling is because of the song quality, this my friends is the favorite to win it all! And I hope they win.

"Coming Home" could be the greatest ESC song ever in my opinion, even surpassing Lordi's "Hardrock Hallelujah" for that title. Malta has also had some staunch entries in ESC since 2011, with Glen Vella's "One Life" (best Maltese ESC entry of all time, in my opinion) kick starting it all, followed by Kurt Calleja "This is the Night" (2012) and last year with Gianluca Bezzina "Tomorrow." Song quality from the Maltese has attracted Eurofans the last few years and I hope this will carry on the quality the Maltese selects for an ESC. Hope for the best.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Tijana Dapcevic "To the Sky"

Macedonia will be one of three former Yugoslavian republics represented in Copenhagen this year. Their representative this year is a singer by the name of Tijana Dapcevic (pictured) who will perform "To the Sky."

"To the Sky" starts off with a killer guitar riff. From there, the vocals and flow is just average. It is an average, but okay song. She will perform in the second semifinal on Thursday, the 8th of May. With a tough second semifinal, I really don't think she might qualify for the grand final the following Saturday.

Macedonia came into the ESC in 1996 (I think), with a song by Kaliopi Bukle that failed to qualify from the semifinal. Bukle would later qualify for the grand final at Baku 2012 with "Crno I Belo," one of my favorites in ESC from Macedonia, along with Next Time's "Nesto Sto Kje Ostane" from 2009. Bukle and Esma Redzepova, who collaborated with Vlatko Lozanoski last year on "Pred Za Ne(?) Raznani" are two of my favorite Macedonian singers, however Esma's collaboration with Lozanoski last year was an average song. So is this song here. But I can tell you the Esma/Lozano and Kaliopi songs from 2012 and 2013 are just as good as this, and I can also tell you that there have been hundreds of ESC songs that are worst than the aforementioned. Good luck.

It's Spring and It's Stanley Cup Playoffs 2014 Time!

Every season there are some stories to chew on regarding the Stanley Cup Playoffs, including this weird new format. Nevermind on that.

For the first time in six seasons, the Stars are in the playoffs as they clinched the eighth and final spot in the West. Also the Avs are back for the first time in the postseason in a few seasons, surprising because when Patrick Roy took over as head coach, it was a major overhaul. And it worked. At least there will be playoffs in the Pepsi Center--but not the Nuggets!

In the east, the Jackets are finding life in their new digs. After a few seasons, they are back in the postseason fold. The Bolts also missed the playoffs last year, but bounced back this year.

However the biggest SCF story this year is the Habs. They are the only Canadian franchise in the big dance. The six others--including the Jets, Canucks and Senators--all missed the playoffs. Sad, considering that Lord Stanley was last won by the Habs in 1992-93, the last time it was done by a team north of the border.

With that in mind, the conference quarterfinal matchups:

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Vilija Mataciunaite "Attention!"

It seems that for the second straight year, Lithuania could have a possible contender for the grand final win. Vilija Mataciunaite (pictured) will represent that country in Copenhagen next month with "Attention!"

"Attention!" is an attention getter for sure. Her vocals are good, beat is good (since it is breakbeat), and I think that the atmosphere combined with the aforementioned could be a winner altogether. She will perform out of the second semifinal on Thursday, the 8th of May.

Lithuania is another very young nation in the ESC, though I've never been a fan that much of their songs. But then again, such stuff like InCulto "Eastern European Funk" (best Lithuanian entry in ESC, from 2010) and Andrius Pojavis "Something" from last year, are some examples of some stout ESC entries from Lithuania. This could join the ranks. Good luck.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Aarzemnieki "Cake to Bake"

Aarzemnieki is a Latvian (and German) folk outfit which will represent Latvia in Copenhagen with "Cake to Bake."

"Cake to Bake" is a funny yet corny folk song that almost has the feel of another certain past ESC song--"You and Me" by Joan Franka (2012). Except that "Cake to Bake" has a different beat and feel as opposed to "You and Me." Still is a good song nonetheless, but the lyrics very corny. They will perform in the first semifinal on Tuesday, the 6th of May. Will be a tough semifinal (the same with the second semifinal), and with a stout amount of entries, I think these guys may not perform the 10th of May on grand final night.

Latvia has been around the ESC way over a decade. Marie N won in Tallinn 2002 with "I Wanna," one of my favorite Latvia ESC songs. However, nothing beats "Wolves of the Sea" by Pirates of the Sea, one of the best ESC entries ever, from 2008. PeR's "Here We Go" from last year and Anmary "Beautiful Song" (2012) were also good as well. Those are some of the good Latvian ESC entries from over the years (in my opinion). I hope for the best for these guys.

Heidi Klum's Headdress 'Controversy': The PC Patrol Run Amuck!

Same people who were outraged at the Redskins team name. All PC move. She's just showing respect to the first people in America-the Natives. That is all!

And where was the outrage regarding Jay Strongbow, Wahoo McDaniel, Tatanka and Joan Franka? They wore headdresses as performers! They too have shown respect for the Natives as well.

To the PC patrol, get a life!

Predominantly D-III Union College Wins NCAA Men's D-I Ice Hockey Championship!

It's always great to see these little schools win a NCAA Division I title, no matter the sport. Case in point, Union College, Division III in just about every sport (they are in the Liberty League), with the exception of ice hockey, in which they are Division I. Their win in the national title of men's ice hockey on Saturday against the University of Minnesota in Philly is their first national title (I think) in any sport. Remember the University of Minnesota Duluth did the same thing in 2011?

Think about it. Love the little guys. Congrats to Bill Bennett and his coaching staff, and also ECAC going back to back. They are the hockey conference.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Emma Marrone "La Mia Citta"

It seems that Italy is once again back on track in the ESC. Punker Emma Marrone (pictured) will represent the country in Copenhagen next month with "La Mia Citta."

"La Mia Citta" is a catchy, punk track that is very good, with good rhythm and good vocals. Not to mention, it is an alternative track that is worthwhile all the way. Be warned to the faux 'Eurofans' who hate such music. Since Italy is among the 'big six,' she will perform only on grand final Saturday, the 10th of May. I predict she will finish somewhere in the 11-15 range.

When it comes to Italy in ESC, only two songs come to mind: Wess & Dori Ghezzi "Era" (1975) and Nina Zilli "L'amore E Femmina" (2012). Those two are the best Italian ESC entries of all time (in my opinion). "L'Essenziale" by Marco Mengioni (2013) isn't among them. Sorry. So once again, you are witnessing yet another Italian ESC entry that is worth listening to.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Mei Finegold "Same Heart"

Mei beer is Finegold the dry beer. Extra dry. Get it? Finegold is not a beer, but the last name of the performer who will represent Israel in Copenhagen with "Same Heart."

"Same Heart" is a club effort in which her vocals--tailored for heavy rock--are great, but still an excellent piece of work. Some people might criticize simply because this is a club track, but most club tracks in ESC have been good to me; most make the grand final. She will perform in the second semifinal on Thursday, the 8th of May, and I predict that she will make the grand final on Saturday, the 10th of May.

Israel might not be geographically European (it is technically an Asian country like other ESC participating countries such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Cyprus), but it is a country who has a broadcast network that is a member of the EBU. Hence, their ESC participation, since 1973. From Izhar Cohen in 1978 ("A Ba Ni Bi") and 1985 ("Ole Ole") to Dana International in 1998 (winner with "Diva") and in 2011 ("Ding Dong") and Izabo "Time" in 2012, there have been some bright spots for this nation in ESC. This is even better than "Rak Bishvilo" by Moran Mazor from Malmo! Mark my words!

Some of the best moments of Dingo Warrior...

His match in World Class against Chris Adams (later of WCW's KroniK). Adams died, and so did Percy Pringle (as a blonde here, would later become Paul Bearer in WWF).

Arsenio Hall appearance. "I have no disrespect for Ho Kogan!" "I will begin my reign as the greatest dubya-dub (WW) champion that has ever lived!" And of course the couch.

For the second straight week, I am continuing a mini-tribute to the late Frankie Knuckles, who passed away last week at the age of 59. The Chicago-based house pioneer who released records on the Chicago-based TRAX label, including "Your Love," which he co-produced in 1987.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Can Linn Featuring Kasey Smith "Heartbeat"

Ireland finally has a winner...or is it? For Copenhagen, it is Can Linn (pictured) with "Heartbeat."

"Heartbeat"--Can Linn's collaboration with Kasey Smith--has a great beat, with Celtic folk vibes. Some said it was similar to the winning song from 2013, "Teardrops" by Emmelie de Forest. Not me, not that close. Her vocals are great as well. She will perform in the second semifinal on Thursday, the 8th of May. She will qualify for the grand final. End of story.

It is also a good sign that Ireland is coming back. Way back into the ESC frame. Some of you remember that Johnny Logan is a two time ESC champion in 1980 (with "What's Another Year") and in one of the greatest ESC's of all time in 1987 (with "Hold Me Now"). Johnny Logan aka Mr. Eurovision. Between those two wins by Johnny Logan, saw a couple great songs from Ireland--the Duskeys "Here Today Gone Tomorrow" (1982) & Linda Martin "Terminal 3" (1984). Since 1987, saw some very interesting songs from Ireland in ESC, including the McCaul's "Love?" (2005) just to name a few. Those are some of the great ESC songs from Ireland that come off the top of my head. It was sad in 2011 and 2012 when JEDWARD was there in both Dusseldorf and Baku with terrible entries that should've got nul points in the semifinals, simply because the Grimes twins were garbage (and still are). And after Timothy (?) Dolan's "Love Will Survive" from Malmo, Ireland has risen from the phoenix. This is Ireland in ESC, and this is what is done.

Copenhagen 2014 Reviews: Pollaponk "Enga Fordoma"

Pollaponk (pictured) could be one of the most colorful acts in the history of the ESC, with a great song is there to boot. They will represent Iceland in Copenhagen with "Enga Fordoma."

"Enga Fordoma"--translated from Icelandic to English as "without prejudice" is a great song that is all punk and no substance. This is another example of a song that is worth listening to at an ESC. All killer, no filler. 100% punk. Goes down hard.

These guys will perform in the first semifinal on Tuesday, 6th of May. My gut feeling is that this song will make it to the grand final on the following Saturday, the 10th of May. As far as Iceland in ESC goes, there have been some good songs before, including Pall Oskar's "Minn Hinsti Dans" (My Last Dance), which is to me the best ESC song of the 20th Century (1997). This song will be up there on the best of ESC list for sure. I hope they make the grand final.

University of Connecticut Basketball: How 'Sweep' It Is...Again!

2nd year coach (former Maverick & Sonic) Kevin Ollie with a superb job taking Husky basketball back to this point. Paid off for Jim Calhoun's protégé.

Also Geno Auriemma has his ninth D-I title tying Pat Summitt.

Third time it has been done, hopefully football and men's hockey there can have good quality championship runs in the future. Strong recruiting could help.
