Thailand has participated in the summer Olympics since 1952; 21 medals have been won by Thai athletes in the summer games, a third of those medals are gold medals.
Boxer Somluck Kamsing (pictured) brought home Thailand's first gold medal at Atlanta 1996, by way of his victory over Serafim Todorov (BUL) in the men's featherweight (boxing) final.
Another boxer, Somjit Jongjohor (pictured in front holding the gold), brought home one of the recent gold medals in the Olympics for Thailand. He defeated Andry Lafitta (CUB) in the men's flyweight (boxing) final at Beijing 2008.
As of now, 29 Thai athletes are headed to London to compete in 12 events, including various events in athletics, swimming, taekwondo, boxing, weightlifting and equestrian.
