London 2012: The Countdown Series: Sudan

76 days remaining until the first day of the London Olympics. Up next on the parade of nations: Sudan (SUD).

Sudan has participated in the summer Olympics since 1960. Only one medal was won by a Sudanese athlete in the summer games.

Although it isn't a gold medal, Ismail Ahmed Ismail (pictured) had something to show for, as the silver medalist finished runner-up in the men's 800m (athletics) final at Beijing 2008.

As of now, five Sudanese athletes are headed to London to compete in these following athletics events:
  • men's 400m
  • men's 800m
  • men's 1500m
  • men's marathon
Up next: Suriname
