RANT: The War on the Word 'Footlong'

First the east coast chain Sheetz won a lawsuit in 2009...

Now Casey's is joining in telling SUBWAY that you don't own the right to the word footlong!

MY TAKE:

The word 'footlong' is a generic, regular term. Even Sonic uses it to describe their FOOTLONG Coney's. For a word like that to be trademarked is utter bullshit. It's just a word.

Actions like these will lose more customers in the near future. Keep it up Subway. They'll go to the likes of Quizno's, Jimmy Johns, and Larry's Giant Subs among others (don't forget Mr. Sub for those of you Canadians) for their sandwich fix.

Casey's, like Sheetz, QT, am/pm, Royal Farms, and Wawa are some of the best convenience stores out there (from what I've read on the net). I'm pretty sure they're putting out fresher foods than Subway.

As a result of all of this, Subway will lose this lawsuit again, and if they keep suing, they'll lose money and more stores nationwide will close.  We all must side with Casey's on this one. Go Casey's and suck on it Subway.
