Spain made their winter Olympics debut at Garmisch Partenkirchen 1936, and has competed at every winter games since. Spanish athletes in the winter games won only two medals, including a gold medal.
Francisco Fernandez Ochoa (pictured) remains to this day as the only gold medalist for Spain in the winter games, after his win in the slalom event at Sapporo 1972. Fernandez Ochoa is one of many who have competed in both the winter and summer Olympics.
