Sochi 2014: The Countdown Series: South Africa

34 days remaining until the opening ceremonies (33 until the first day of competition) of Sochi 2014. Up next on the countdown: Republic of South Africa.

South Africa made their winter Olympics debut at Squaw Valley 1960, but due to various circumstances, was idle. However, they returned to the winter Olympic spotlight at Lillehammer 1994, where they have had at least one athlete qualify for the winter games. The South African contingent competed mostly in figure skating events, though no medals were won.

No participation as of now for South Africa at Sochi, but could change (I think).
