MLS Cup 2012 On Saturday!
Are you ready for some football? Of course I am! It's the 17th annual MLS Cup on Saturday as this time it's a rematch from last year between the Dynamo and Galaxy (Galaxy won).
It is believed that this could be David Beckham's last game with the Galaxy as he is pursuing to move on, possibly with a contract back across the pond. But what club will he play for? Who knows.
As for the game itself, it's in the Galaxy's backyard, like last year. Who knows, the Dynamo is out for revenge!
Tune in to ESPN 3:30 Central Saturday! Or follow along with live chat, as well as timing and scoring at MLSsoccer.com!

Argos!!!
Congrats to the Toronto Argonauts as they won the 100th Grey Cup, defeating Calgary 34-14 on home turf Sunday.
Chad Kaeckert was MVP with almost 200 on the ground, while Ricky Foley, with a sack and four tackles is the Most Valuable Canadian.
Ricky Ray got another ring, so did Noel Prefontaine. Ex-Rider guard Marc Parenteau finally got his. Remember 2010 Grey Cup? He scored the game's first touchdown!
Good game, better than the Sunday Night NFL affair. Glad to watch it here in the states on NBC Sports Network.

Larry Hagman, 81, J.R. Ewing
Link.
He was also on I Dream of Jeannie and the short-lived CBS series Orleans, from the mid '90s, where he played a courtroom judge.
But everyone knows him best as J.R. Ewing. The scene that made him famous was the season 3 episode "A House Divided" where he got shot in the back. In the 4th season (1980-81), J.R.'s assailant was revealed:
Almost three decades later, Larry spoke of the scene:
Dallas was cancelled at the 1990-91 season after 14 seasons on CBS. Two telemovies passed (both ran on CBS) and over a decade later, returned with the re-vamped version on TNT last year (both Bobby and Sue Ellen also came back for the reboot).
He has battled various illnesses, but yesterday lost the fight.

Grey Cup (Coupe Grey) Moment #5: The 13th Man
As the Grey Cup (Coupe Grey) centenary approches on Sunday, here is the last Grey Cup moment that I thought of was the "13th Man" game in 2009. I was so pissed off of the mistake the Roughriders special teams coach did when Duval went for the field goal:

Grey Cup (Coupe Grey) Moment #4: Dinwiddie Dinwiddled
Another Grey Cup (Coupe Grey) moment is the 2007 game, played at SkyDome, site of the game on Sunday. It was a rough day for one Ryan Dinwiddie:
That was the Riders' 4th Cup in their 100+ years of existence. First Grey Cup since 1989.
Sadly to this date, it is the last CFL game ever for the CBC, as all games in the CFL are exclusive to TSN, including the Grey Cup Centenary on Sunday.

Grey Cup (Coupe Grey) Moment #3: Grey Cup Heads South
With the Grey Cup (Coupe Grey) centenary approaching this Sunday, here's another Grey Cup moment that popped up in my head is the 1995 game. The game is historical, considering that the Baltimore Stallions won the game. Here's a clip from the opening moments of the game, played at Taylor Field Regina (Mosaic Stadium):
The Stallions (now in Montreal) are the first and only US franchise during this time to win a Grey Cup. Sadly, 1995 was the final year of the US expansion era.

United States Grand Prix 2012: My Thoughts.
Some thoughts from the race:
- Yes folks, Rick Perry and David Dewhurst presented the trophies to Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel, the top two finishers at the USGP.
- Kudos to the management at Circuit of the Americas. Without no flaws (as opposed to Indy), the facility was top notch and ready for racing.
- It's great that such a race was clean, no hard crashes, and no safety car periods (all 56 laps were green, maybe a local caution or two).
- Vettel will have to wait until Sunday at Rio to clinch his second driver's title, now only 20 ahead of Fernando Alonso.
- 120,000+ in attendance, but not one mention on ESPN on either its website or on Sportscenter. Sad, considering that ESPN used to do F1 races.
- Only two retirees including Mark Webber's late problems. Great for such a race. I wished all 24 would have ran at the finish (including both HRT cars).
- The celebrity factor seemed to be at Austin than at Homestead for the Sprint Cup finale and race weekend there. Patrick Dempsey (who is also a racer) was there, so was a bunch of others. Mario Andretti, former F1 champ, spoke to the top three finishers on the podium!
- SPEED TV's coverage was great.
- If you missed out on this race by watching NFL early action, shame on you. You suck.
Grey Cup (Coupe Grey) Moments: 1989
Since the Grey Cup Centenary is Sunday, I thought that throughout the week I have personally handpicked some of the best moments in Grey Cup (Coupe Grey) history. The final between the Stamps and Argos in Toronto is Sunday.
The first one that came into my mind is the 1989 final between the Ti-Cats and Riders, which came down to the wire:
Rover-back Glen Suitor, currently an analyst with TSN, was the holder. Had to get it out. Also it was at SkyDome, where the final is played this Sunday.

USGP 2012: Vettel on Pole! Race Sunday!
Saturday's qualifying session showed why once again defending Formula One driver's champion Sebastian Vettel is great in qualifying. Thanks to Unions, Hostess Brands is Gone.
The main reason is because of lazy union workers, according to their official website.
Those damn union workers at it again. Ruining the company because they cannot take the heat. That is why I hate unions. Too many idiots.
As for their brands such as Ding Dongs, cupcakes, donuts, Sno Balls, and Twinkies among others, I wonder who will pick them up? Kelloggs? General Mills? Lance Snacks? Masterfoods? I could see a food conglomerate take it, even someone outside food-such as SABMiller or AB InBev. Who knows. Anyone but BIMBO, who is Hostess Brands' biggest rival.
Circuit of the Americas is Finally Open!
Circuit of the Americas in Travis County, Texas, is finally open for business. After weeks and months of preparations, the track's first weekend is here. It also marks Formula 1's first trip to the USA since Indy 2006. The first F1 race on a permanent course in the US since Watkins Glen in the late '70s.
There were some spins in both the practice sessions. Last year's F1 champion, Sebastian Vettel, was fastest in the first practice. I believe it was Lewis Hamilton who was fastest in second practice this afternoon.
There will be a third practice and qualifying session on tap Saturday. The race is Sunday LIVE on Speed.

2012 U.S. Elections: Assessment of State Amendments
Various amendments from throughout the country were on the ballot in every state on Tuesday. Pot legalization was among the amendments decided in several states, including in Colorado, where Proposition 64 was passed, thanks to those in the state who passed it.
Gay marriage was also passed in a few other states as well. No MMA on the ballot in New York State. Sadly.

Assessing the U.S. Governors Elections, 2012
This is also my 900th post.
Jay Nixon's re-election as Missouri Governor were among the incumbent governors in the United States re-elected in Tuesday night's elections. Six incumbents faced re-elections, all six re-elected. Here are the following Governors re-elected to office on Tuesday night:
- Gary Herbert, Republican, Utah
- Jack Dalrymple, Republican, North Dakota
- Jay Nixon, Democrat, Missouri
- Peter Shumlin, Democrat, Vermont
- Earl Ray Tomblin, Democrat, West Virginia
- Jack Markell, Democrat, Delaware
Mitch Daniels' retirement due to the Indiana Republican Governor's term limits, resulted in another Republican, Mike Pence, in his seat after his win on Tuesday.
American Samoa and Puerto Rico also had gubernatorial elections on Tuesday night as well.
Republicans currently have 29 Governorships, compared to the Democrats' 20 after Tuesday night. One is unknown. These numbers are among the 50 states, excluding territories.

CFL Playoffs: Semifinals Weekend 2012
The CFL Playoffs are here. Six teams with one goal-to reach the Grey Cup Centennial match on November 25 in Toronto.
This weekend are the East and West semifinals with the Eskimos and Argonauts in the 'East' semifinal, while the Roughriders and Stampeders are in the West semifinals. The reason of the placement of quotations on East, is because Edmonton is in the West, and they are in the playoffs due to crossover. Usually three per division make it in, if that is not the case, then it's the two best in one division. That is how the current CFL system works.
The defending Grey Cup champions Lions and the Alouettes are awaiting next weekend.
TSN, of course, is the exclusive home of the CFL all season long and will be the exclusive home of the CFL postseason. NBC Sports Network will carry both semifinals on tape delay Sunday afternoon.

Assessement of the U.S. Senate Elections 2012.
Tammy Baldwin was among the dozen or more who will be freshmen Senators once the session opens in January. Baldwin defeated former Wisconsin governor Tommy Thompson (and former Bush cabinet member) for the vacated Senate seat for Wisconsin. It was an historic election for Baldwin, where in her victory speech, claimed that she will become the first member of the Senate to become 'openly gay.' For the record, 'Nimrod' Allen finished 4th at 1% of the vote. Why am I bringing him up? Because of the name. His first name is 'Nimrod.' He ran as an independent.
The Senate will once again be majority Democrat with 53 members; the same number of Democrats in the Senate from 2010. Republican seats in the Senate decreased from 47 in 2010, to 45 in 2012. Key Republicans including Bob Corker (Tennessee) are returning to the Senate. Another Republican-Ted Cruz-won the vacated Senate seat in Texas previously held by three-term (?) Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson, who was a Republican. Hutchinson, and fellow Senate Republican Olympia Snowe (Maine) are retiring.
Former US Congressman Bernie Sanders (Vermont) won his election. An independent in the house will remain an independent in the Senate.
The question remains: will Harry Reid still become Majority Leader? Will another Democrat-such as Claire McCaskill, Jon Tester or Kirsten Gillibrand-who won re-election on Tuesday will take over? Anything to keep away from those two morons from California.
Remember it's a majority of 60 that is needed for a majority to obtain power to filibuster. For a filibuster, 60 of 100 in the Senate must stop a bill.
Let the fun (and backstabbing) begin.

Assessment of the US House Races, 2012
Of the 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives, only 11 are undecided after Tuesday's elections, including the House district in Florida held by Republican Allen West (pictured). West was among the slew of freshmen in the House after the 2010 midterm elections.
As of now, the Republicans still maintain control of the House, despite losing ten seats. A bunch of LibertyPAC candidates won seats, including in the Texas House district that was formally held by one Ron Paul (Victoria).
Democrats lost one seat as of the recounted tallies in eleven House races.
Among those returning to the House via re-election are the likes of former VP candidate Paul Ryan and former Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann.
A handful of one term house members are gone after Tuesday, including Republican Ann Marie Buerkle, who won midterm election in 2010, her first (and only) term in the House. She could possibly return soon, and prepare for 2014.
However it is the House district #23 in Texas (serves San Antonio area) that garnered a lot of attention on Tuesday night. After mudslinging ad campaigns, it was down to two former Oakland A's from the late '80s early '90s: Canseco and Gallego. No not those two. Eventually Canseco (Democrat) out-slugged incumbent Gallego (Republican) to earn him a trip to the House.
After all it said and done, will John Boehner return as House Speaker or will another Republican rise to the ashes? Who knows what will happen when Congress returns to session in January.

U.S. Election Night 2012: Random Rants and Musings.
Some thoughts from the biggest night in America in 2012:
- Do I care about the projected Electoral College tally? I don't. So to the media outlets-especially the AP and TV-in 2016 and beyond, PLEASE! STOP with the FUCKING ELECTORAL COLLEGE PROJECTIONS until the electors themselves finally cast their votes.
- Some of the Senate races amused me:
- Tammy Baldwin came from behind to win the vacated Senate seat in Wisconsin. Becomes the first OPENLY GAY member of the United States Senate. I favored Tommy Thompson to win. Yes folks, the former Governor of Wisconsin and a Bush 43 Cabinet member.
- In that same Wisconsin Senate race, finishing fourth was an unknown independent by the name of...NIMROD Allen! It is his real name! Look him up!
- It isn't Todd Akin that would "butt-rape" Senator Claire McCaskill for her seat in the Senate, it was McCaskill who reversed the favor. Jonathan Dine, the Libertarian finished 3rd with about 7% of the votes.
- At Sen. Scott Brown (R-Massachusetts) conceding speech, is it just me or is one of her daughters taller than Sen. Brown. Maybe it's the stillettos?
- Kirsten Gillibrand is re-elected to the Senate.
- Bob Corker wins again. I wished that the GOP would have done a sequel to that (controversial to some, hilarious to me) 2006 ad attacking former US Congressman Harold Ford Jr. That particular "I Met Harold at the Playboy Party!" ad. This time replacing Ford with his opponent.
- Linda McMahon loses again. $100 million from profits of a publicly traded company (the NYSE stock symbol 'WWE' gives away a hint) to once again blow another election. Pro Wrestling fans are rejoicing. In the words of D-Generation X: Linda, I got two words for you: SUCK IT!
- 'Mourlock' sounds like a character of a J.R.R. Tolkien novel.
- The House races also amused me as well:
- Texas House #23, representing mostly San Antonio area. The two leading candidates had familiar last names-Canseco and Gallego. I am thinking, this has a 1989 Oakland A's to this! Lots of baseball fans were thinking the same as well.
- Michele Bachmann won another term in the House, but instead of running for President, she should've used the money and ran against Amy Klobuchar for Klobuchar's Senate seat.
- Lots of Liberty-PAC endorsed candidates won House elections last night.
- Ann Marie Buerkle (R-NY) lost her bid for a second straight House term.
- Paul Ryan will return to the House after winning his House election.
- Elsewhere...
- Several states voted on pot and gay marriage. Yet New York did not have an amendment to allow mixed martial-arts promotions to finally hold events in New York State.
- C-SPAN deserves accolades for being best election coverage of the night, blowing away PBS and all the commercial networks, which are all shit when it comes to election coverage (honestly Fox and Fox News did better than all other commercial networks).

Election Day 2012: A Mini-Guide.
The voting booths are setting up nationwide for Election Day 2012. Several races at the national, state and local levels are up for grabs. Here is a mini-guide to the Elections.
- President. Over two dozen candidates are running to defeat current President Obama. Gary Johnson, Jill Stein, Mitt Romney and others are trying to do so. Obama and Romney are on the ballot in every state. Unfortunately, for the third party and independent voters in Oklahoma, once again, the brain-dead head of elections in that state refuse to let third party and independent voters on the ballot. Maybe for monetary reasons?
- Every House seat is up for grabs. Some whose two years (one term) of their House careers are on the line.
- 33 of the 100 in the Senate are up for grabs. Including in key states such as Missouri, where U.S. Congressman Todd Akin is really listening to the voters and whether or not his 'rape' comment will win him the ticket to the Senate chambers, in the seat currently held by Democrat Claire McCaskill.
- 12 Gubernatorial races nationwide, and in American Samoa.
- Various other races nationwide as well.

The Aftermath of Sandy: Some Thoughts.
Now that Sandy is completely gone, some thoughts:
- Giants game on Sunday (nationally on CBS except in Seattle and Bay Area due to NFL restrictions) will remain at the Meadowlands on Sunday; avoiding the move to let's say...the Carrier Dome at Syracuse University (even though Syracuse is basically a Bills market and I'm assuming there are Steelers fans in the market)
- NBC Universal networks (CNBC, usa, msnbc, NBC Sports Network, NBC, etc.) are doing a one hour telethon tonight to raise money. News Corp, CBS and Disney are also among the media companies that will donate money to relief efforts.
- New York Marathon cancelled.
- Broadway is back, some shows opened on Thursday night.
- Late night shows in NYC (Letterman, Fallon, etc. are started to return to taping)
- Saw on Fox News' the Five that guns are pulled on each other in NYC?
- A long line of people waiting for fuel.
- Possibly more crime, considering what we've seen in New Orleans in 2005.

"Sevgilim"-and the reason why I'm posting this week in FJ-is because I've waited long enough to post it, but this is a song that was written for the man who just recently married Sabina Babayeva. Yes, the same Sabina Babayeva who finished fourth in the grand final at EUROVISION LVII in May. Babayeva and fiance tied the knot earlier in October.
For the record, Babayeva will come to the states November 14 in Washington to perform as part of A Night in Washington with Friends from Baku gala and dinner event. Get your tickets now.
