EUROVISION LVIII Update: Esma for Macedonia, Georgia and G:Son and More

The Gypsy (Roma) invasion to EUROVISION continues. The Gypsy queen Esma Redzepova, at 69, will team up with Vlatko Lozanoski Lozano for a song that both will represent Macedonia at EUROVISION LVIII in May.

Esma and Vlatko were chosen by the ESC broadcaster in Macedonia to represent FYROM at Malmo. For the last couple of years, Macedonia in ESC was represented by Kaliopi Bukle, who last year went to the final at Baku with "Crno i Belo." Esma's masterpiece, "Caje Sukarije" was featured in the soundtrack to the 2006 film, BORAT: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakstan. However, it was without copyright notice that she sued Fox and the record label of the movie's soundtrack.

Roma (Gypsies) are no stranger to EUROVISION. Gipsy.cz, who was the last representative for Czech Republic in 2009, had zero points on their performance of their song, "Avec Romale", thus the Czech ESC has since withdrawn. Last year, Sofia Marinova (Bulgaria 2012) almost put Bulgaria in the final for their second time in their short ESC history with "Lubov bez Granici," but lost out in a tie with "Stay" by Touraj "Tooji" Keshtar (Norway 2012).

Elsewhere, Georgia selected their entrant: Nodi Tatishvili and Sophie Gelovani. Both will collaborate on an untitled song (at this moment), that is expected to be written by Thomas 'G:Son' Gustafsson, who was the writer on Loreen Talhaoui's "Euphoria," the winning song from ESC LVII.

France, Denmark, Albania and Armenia has also selected entrants as well.
