A few weeks ago, the music world lost another great producer, Sylvia Robinson. Robinson, who worked at Sugar Hill Records, passed away. She helped produced such hits as "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash (1981) and the masterpiece, "Rapper's Delight" from the Sugar Hill Gang. From 1979, "Rapper's Delight" was the first hip-hop song to hit radio. And the rest is history. Better than today's shit.
For those taking your kids out on Monday for trick or treating, be safe and always be weary about your surroundings. Thank you.

BELLATOR 56 Preview: Welterweight World Title Fight!
This night of matches will most likely headline a huge week at Bellator Sport Worldwide LLC. The company has announced that VIACOM, owner of MTV2 and Spike, has now a 50% stake in BELLATOR. What does it mean? Spike will have Bellator in 2013 with ZUFFA heading to Fox/FX beginning next month.
Nevermind that. Saturday night's Bellator 56 will be packed because of the card. The heavyweight tournament semifinals will pit Neil Grove against Thiago Santos in one match, and the other semifinal will feature Eric Prindle against Ron Sparks.
The main draw of Bellator 56-which will be in Kansas City-is the welterweight world championship. Ben "Funky" Askren, 2 time NCAA Division I wrestling champion, will defend the title against season 4 welterweight tournament winner Jay Hieron (whose decisions throughout the tournament are questionable because of the judging).
Live on MTV2 and EPIX HD at 8pm US/Canadian Central this Saturday night! Get away from the football and enjoy the best in MMA that is Bellator!

BELLATOR keeps piling on the greatness as the world's #1 MMA promotion never fails to deliver and the tournaments continue with the Bantamweight qualifier semifinals. Alexis Vila delivered one of the biggest knockouts of the year in MMA in a quarterfinal match, and now he has another roadblock, in the form of Marcos Galvao. Eduardo Dantas will face Ed West in the other semifinal.

Centenary Ladies Volleyball Senior Day 2011-Photos!
I had an opportunity on Fall Break to see the Ladies volleyball final match on Saturday. In that match, the Ladies swept Mary Hardin Baylor in three sets. It was their last home match of 2011, before they finish these last couple weeks on the road.
There were four seniors honored after the match. A little bit of a gain from last year when the program, under second year coach Jon Stenman and assistant coach Jon Valiao, had three seniors.
4. Kayla Tibaldo of Santa Fe, Texas.
5. Taylor Gilmour of Destin, Florida
10. Caitlin Neese of Grapevine, Texas
2. Jaclyn Lopez of Mission, Texas. Supposedly, the program's 2nd all time in assists.

Some of at least 20 photos taken on this day. Again, the Ladies close out their last few weeks on the road. Follow the progress of the Ladies volleyball at GoCentenary.com.
Let's Get it On!
This happened to be the best thing to come out of the sporting world on Sunday (sans the tragedy at LVMS).
Check out the "November 12" graphic in this video. This is the beginning of a UFC on Fox promo, that features the world heavyweight bout on that night between Cain Velasquez and Junior Dos Santos. You wonder if Dana will probably put these two in the Octagon as an undercard?

Dan Wheldon 1978-2011
On Sunday, in the IndyCar finale at LVMS, Wheldon was among those involved in a scary multicar wreck that took out 15 of the 34 starters. The two time Indy 500 winner was transferred to a nearby hospital where he was later deceased. Wheldon leaves behind a wife and two children.
Two other injuries that were reported-Pippa Mann with a hand injury and Will Power with back pain.
IndyCar president Randy Bernard, formerly of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR), announced the death sometime while Saints-Bucs and Texans-Ravens were in the third quarter.

IndyCar president Randy Bernard, formerly of the Professional Bull Riders (PBR), announced the death sometime while Saints-Bucs and Texans-Ravens were in the third quarter.
The wreck happened on lap 13 and it started by contact within two cars. Wheldon was five cars behind and he along with Power begin to go airborne. The fire that arose from the high groove erupted from (I believe) the back of Wheldon's. Wheldon did carry an onboard for the ESPN telecast in the race.
After the news broke, the race was cancelled and five lap tribute were done by those remaining in the race in his honor. Wheldon was 33.
Wheldon's death was the fourth IndyCar death since the split of 1995. Scott Brayton was killed in Indy 500 practice in 1996. Tony Renna was killed in testing at IMS in 2003. Paul Dana was killed in practice at Homestead-Miami in 2006.

BELLATOR 54 Saturday Night!
BELLATOR is getting better and better every week, even though the ratings are going down. For those who watch UFC only the last few weeks...well, uh...you missed a lot! Bellator has a YouTube channel for all those recaps.
In the meantime, Saturday's BELLATOR 54 will not only feature bantamweight champ Zach Mackovsky in action, but it's the middleweight semifinals featuring Alexander Shlemenko against Brian Rogers in one semifinal while Bryan Baker will take on Vitor Vianna in the other semifinal.

And in case you missed BELLATOR 53...you missed another great knockout.
And for the record, it will be tough with BFC 54 going up against Rangers and Sprint Cup Saturday night. And football too.

Then on Saturday, it's senior day. Four seniors will be honored before the home finale with Mary Hardin Baylor at the Gold Dome.

4. Kayla Tibaldo will also be honored as well. The Texan, who has been on the sidelines during the past month, possibly with an injury.

PTC wins this one, but they're probably being the cowards for not waging war on trashy reality shows that are worse than this.
Linky.
Again, to the morons at PTC, this show might suck, but there are hundreds of shows that suck more. Now go after Jersey Shore!

NHL 2011-12 Season Begins Thursday!
Could the Bruins repeat?
New challenges for the 2011-12 NHL season. As you all know by now, Winnipeg is back, because the new owners purchased the Thrashers and moved them up there. As a result, for the first time since '99-00 season, no NHL hockey in Atlanta (or no ice hockey of some sort at the moment). The NEW Jets will play in the East, just like the Thrashers were from 2000 until 2011.
The new Jets will kick start the NHL's return to Winnipeg on Sunday against the Habs. The game will be on NHL Network. Those in the border regions of the US with a CBC affiliate can be able to watch the game. The Jets will then take on the original Jets on October 15, and it will also be nationally on CBC.
The defending Stanley Cup champions Boston Bruins will kick start the 2011-12 season as they host the Flyers Thursday night. Live on Versus.
The defending West champions Vancouver Canucks will start their season as they host the Pens Thursday night, and will be live on Versus cable and free-to-air on CBC.
So there you have it folks...

A Big Sporting Weekend This Past Weekend...
People in the states got a treat this past weekend when the grand finals of both the Australian Football League (Australian Rules Football) and National Rugby League of Australasia were televised on ESPN2 and Fox Soccer Channel respectively.
Both had horrible pre-game festivities. Meat Loaf at the AFL Grand Final, Kelly Clarkson at the NRL Grand Final. Both suck, but prefer Meat Loaf over Kelly Clarkson even though Meat Loaf Aday isn't as "manufactured" as Clarkson is. At least Eskimo Joe was at the NRL Grand Final. That band is heaps better than both Meat Loaf and Kelly Clarkson combined.
As far as the matches-congrats to both the Manly Sea Eagles and Geelong Cats. For the Sea Eagles, their 24-10 win over New Zealand launched the club's 8th Rugby League flag, while the Cats got their third premiership in five years, the first under first year coach Chris Scott-in a 38 point win over Collingwood (Cats 18.11, Pies 12.9). Scott's win marked the 13th first year coach to win a VFL/AFL premiership. 2007 Brownlow medalist Jimmy Bartel, who had 26 possessions in the game, earned the Norm Smith medal for being best on ground in this year's Grand Final.
Outside of the football, the penultimate Petit Le Mans took place. Audis had problems, but a Peugeot won. Both Audi and Peugeot LMP1 prototypes both run on diesel especially the Audi and their TDI power, which Volkswagen has in virtually every vehicle they make (including Audi).
Also baseball playoffs are going on as well as NFL, CFL and the Rugby World Cup. Enjoyed seeing the All-Blacks whoop Canada's ass on Sunday. That game was on NBC, competing against late NFL on CBS and/or Fox and/or the London Derby where Spurs defeated Arsenal 2-1. Great sporting weekend perhaps.

Centenary Baseball 2012 Schedule Released!
The Gents baseball 2012 schedule is out. Some interesting opponents for this 2012 campaign and the schedule is right here!
The season begins with a doubleheader against Hendrix College on February 4. ASC play begins with McMurry on February 24.
Like other Centenary athletics programs in 2011-12, baseball is dipping into D-I play, starting with Tech on March 6, and they meet again on March 21 in Ruston. Their other foray into D-I in 2012 will be on the road at Grambling State on March 13.
As a result of the athletics program's move to SCAC for 2012-13, the Gents' final ASC opponent will be a doubleheader with LeTourneau on April 24, before concluding the season at home against LSUS.
