Last week, the last surviving member of the Ramones-Tommy Ramone-passed away at age 65. As the late Jim McKay said after the tragedy at Munich 1972, "they are all gone." With that in mind, "Blitzkrieg Bop," from their 1976 self titled debut.

Malmo 2013 39 For 39: Koza Mostra & Agathonas Iakovidis "Alcohol is Free"

It seems this year it is about the traditional folk elements (see Bulgaria). Now the Greek entrants Koza Mostra and Agathonas Iakovidis are injecting this element into a punk rock tune called "Alcohol is Free."

"Alcohol is Free" is a funny song, and the sound mostly channels the punk/ska rock scene. Maybe some Sublime? Take a listen:

Now this is the gold mine for the ad agencies for the alcoholic beverage manufacturers to start using this in an ad. Unless it is only targeting the legal drinking age drinkers and not the under 21's.

As for the song, I hope this makes the final. This is a song worthy of a win in EUROVISION, and hopefully to bring the ESC to Athens in 2014.

I also think this is heaps better than last year's offering "Aphrodisiac," by Eleftheria Eleftheriou, one of those acts who I thought should have never made the final in the first place out of a very weak first semifinal in Baku.

Friday Jukebox 7.20.12: London is Calling!

These are possibly the first of the next four weeks that I'm devoting FJ to British music, in honor of the London games. With that in mind, London is calling this upcoming week, so what better than to play some Clash! The title track of their 1979 album London Calling.
