How about some new wave stuff? Vince Clarke's project Yaz(oo) started when he was with Depeche Mode, then after this project, formed Erasure with Andy Bell (one of many singers to publicly 'come out the closet'). "Don't Go" from the Upstairs at Eric's 1982 album.

I forgot Kool & the Gang had a trumpeter! Kool & the Gang's trumpeter passed away earlier this week at the age of 62. The sound of the trumpet has been very instrumental into this band's great sound, as depicted here in 1981's "Get Down on It."

Back to some '80s goodness here with some new wave action. I actually did a hard search for one song, and I found Boys Don't Cry "I Wanna Be a Cowboy" from 1986. Although I am an '80s child, I have basically never heard it before. So therefore here it is.

Was also discovered by Paul Oakenfold when he was an A&R executive with Profile (Run DMC's label)!

The band A Flock of Seagulls has been in the news lately, for the wrong things. It seems that $70,000 worth of their equipment was stolen overnight, and the thief (or thieves) ran away; they ran so far away. Hence, "I Ran" is the subject of this week's FJ. From their 1982 self-titled album.

Since one of our past FJ's was on Claudja Barry, let's do this again. This time, a great song from Barry from 1984, "Trippin' on the Moon." Like some, even most of Barry's productions, this was also produced by Jurgen Korduletsch, who from what I've researched, married Barry. Coincidence?

Friday Jukebox 9.16.11

Before I continue, a small editorial here.

I remember on Tuesday, September 18, 2001, a week after the attacks at the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, things slowly began to get back to normal. Everybody began to get back to the things they're watching and listening. Patriotic themes popped up everywhere. Late night TV had patriotic themes, just to name a few. Sadly, in the years to come, most entertainment would go shit. The reason is because of the PC police. These PC pussies who bitch and complain about entertainment in general so that artists can conform to their standards. And that was the end product of 9/11/01.

Anyway, that's my view and that's the truth of today's music.

Friday Jukebox is about a retrospective of music from the past. And last Friday, I didn't post any music, instead posting the United States of America national anthem in respect for those killed on 9/11/01.

Now this week, it's back to music, like the NFL's slogan for this past week of opening regular season football games was "Back to Football." A campaign to reflect the NFL's labor dispute this past summer which results in more football in 2011.

Speaking of Friday Jukebox, this week's song is a becoming a favorite of mine. One, because it was released in 1983, and the other is from a pioneer of electronic music, Denis Le Page. Le Page, along with his (ex-wife) called the suburbs of Montreal home and recorded there. Had songs that reached the Billboard charts, especially in the early '80s. "Angel Eyes," from the 1983 album Lime 3, reached the top 15 in the Billboard dance music chart that year.

From the 1980 The Age of Plastic album, that also contains the awesome singles "I Love You (Miss Robot)" and "Clean Clean."

Friday Jukebox 5.6.11

This week's Friday Jukebox is dedicated to all the college graduates nationwide, including at Centenary of Louisiana!

Fussy Cussy was a project from Montreal who released "La Vita" in 1976. The name is a nickname for Cussy Nicodemo, the main producer of "La Vita" and this track, "Don't Stop the Music," released in 1981. This track had the treatment thanks to Denis Lepage (Kat Mandu, Lime, Nini NoBless), so there's the awesomeness there. Enjoy!
