Ben E King passed away last week at the age of 76, and was a part of the group The Spinners. However, it is the song that made him famous: "Stand By Me," released in 1962. In 1986, the song was used in the cinematic release of the same name.

In case you heard by now, Percy Sledge passed away at the age of 73. He is perhaps best known for one of the biggest hits of the 1960s, "When a Man Loves a Woman," from 1966.

If you haven't heard the news, Brownstone's Charmayne Maxwell fell to her death earlier this week at the age of 46. Brownstone was a girl RnB group of the 1990s. Their most successful song to date was "Grapevyne" from 1994's From the Bottom Up.

Two weeks ago, we lost a great legend of blues by the name of Bobby Womack. Womack died at age 70. His biggest hit was from 1974, "If You Think You're Lonely Now." From the album, The Poet.

Friday Jukebox 7.5.13: A Small Tribute to Bobby 'Blue' Bland

Two weeks ago, Bobby 'Blue' Bland passed away at the age of 83. He had numerous exquisite masterpieces, including this gem, "Ain't no Love in the Heart of the City," from the 1974 LP album Dreamer. The band Whitesnake would later cover this gem on a live album of theirs. Just recently, a Jay-Z track used samples from this tune (produced by the idiot Kanye West). Apparently, the instrumental from that Jay-Z song was used recently in a Chrysler 'Imported from Detroit' ad.

Leroy 'Sugarfoot' Bonner, frontman for the Ohio Players, passed away on Wednesday, aged 69. The Ohio Players best known for such masterpieces as "Love Rollercoaster" and this masterpiece, 'Fire,' the title track of the 1974 album of the same name.

This week's Friday's Jukebox focuses on some more 80s goodness, this time-Evelyn "Champagne" King. In 1977, her first hit was "Shame." Five years later, "Love Come Down" was to me her second greatest hit.
