MMA World Series of Fighting 11 on NBC Saturday; Time Scaled Back
For the first time in their young history, MMA World Series of Fighting will have their first event on network television on Saturday. Originally this was to start around 9pm local time, however it has been scaled to 4pm locally there in Daytona and it was not because of the UFC pay per view, it is possible the time has been scaled back to accommodate the people who wish to attend the Coke Zero Firecracker 400 race at that 'big' track. Again not the UFC PPV, but the Cup race, after all, Daytona is still (sadly) a motorsport town.
On that card, Justin Gaethje will defend the lightweight championship against Nick Newell. Also, Jon Fitch will be in action, and the long awaited MMA-WSOF debut of Melvin Guillard will also be on the card that afternoon.
The fight card on NBC will mark the first time NBC has had any time of MMA on their network since BELLATOR MMA (then known as BELLATOR Fighting Championships) had their cards on NBC Saturday late nights until the fall of 2010.
