The World of US Politics: Episode 2

On Tuesday, Mitt Romney added Arizona and Michigan to his collection of states with primary victories. With Washington upcoming on Saturday and "Super Tuesday" upcoming as well, could it mean more? It seems he's running away with the votes, even though he's Obama 2.0 to me. Remember, the actual delegates might change when the Republican National Convention comes around. Numbers are unofficial.

I also see Rick Santorum passing Ron Paul for third on the delegate board (unofficial, that is). Remember, Super Tuesday could change it.

For those who do not know what "Super Tuesday" is, here's what to expect. "Super Tuesday" (a.k.a. March 6) is a day where these following states will have GOP primaries:

• Oklahoma
• Georgia
• Tennessee
• Massachusetts
• Virginia
• Ohio
• Vermont
• Alaska
• North Dakota
• Idaho

Plain, and simple. A huge day that could shape the way delegates will be cast at this summer's Republican National Convention.

Oh and for the record, Andrew Breitbart passed away Thursday morning at the age of 43. Tribute videos are posted on his website.

Big Night for Santorum, and Other Primary Observations: 2.7

Rick Santorum's campaign brought out the broom on Tuesday night-sweeping all three primaries-Missouri, Colorado and Minnesota. As a result, it seems that he has gained ground on Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination.

Ron Paul had another good showing, as he finished 2nd in Minnesota. He could get some delegates out of this one.

And the "uncommitted" in Missouri who got 3.9% of the vote? Newt didn't file in time, so who could this un-masked person on the ballot for the Missouri primary be?

Anyway, with this aside, Maine's weeklong primary will end Saturday. Arizona and Michigan will be the next states with primaries on Tuesday, February 28.

Florida GOP Primary 2012: Leftovers.

Another state won by Mitt Romney. Sigh. In the latest GOP primary in Florida in Tuesday, he captured 46% of the vote.

Romney 46%
Gingrich 32%
Santorum 13%
R Paul 7%

As of now, Romney has virtually has 85 delegates, whilst Paul has 10, Gingrich 27 and Santorum 8, with key battleground states coming up, hopefully key states for RP to kick it up a notch!

Anyway, the next primaries are on Saturday, with Nevada with a one-day primary and Maine with a weeklong primary.

New Hampshire GOP Primary Leftovers

Once 17% of locations reported in the second GOP primary in New Hampshire on Tuesday, the media outlets projected Mitt Romney as the winner. It's not sane to do that until the numbers are at a point where they can project the winner. I'd wait until at least 95-100% of the precincts reported to officially declare a winner.

What amazed me was Texas Governor Rick Perry's low number of votes in this primary, a low of 1%.

What also strikes me was that Huntsman finished 3rd, something he couldn't do in Iowa! Remember, there are plenty of independent/third-party voters in that state who voted in this primary.

Next primary is next Saturday in South Carolina. Stephen Colbert (of The Daily Show and Colbert Report fame) is planning to enter. I'm not joking.
