28 days remaining until the opening ceremonies (27 until the first day of competition) at Sochi 2014. Up next on the countdown: Tajikistan.

Tajikistan made their winter Olympics debut at Salt Lake City 2002, and also appeared at Turin 2006 and Vancouver 2010.

Skier Andrey Drygin (pictured) is to this day the lone Tajik athlete in the winter games. He competed in the slalom, downhill and super G events, despite no medals being won.

Drygin will once again represent Tajikistan in the winter games. He will be the lone Tajik to compete at Sochi.

London 2012: The Countdown Series: Tajikistan

71 days to go until the first day of the London Olympics. Up next on the parade of nations: Tajikistan (TJK).

Tajikistan has competed in the summer Olympics since 1996. Only two medals have been won by their athletes in the summer games.

Despite no gold medal, only one silver was won for Tajikistan. In the freestyle light-heavyweight (wrestling) final, Yusup Abdusalomov (pictured) earned the silver despite losing to Revaz Mindorashvili (GEO) at Beijing 2008.

The only bronze for Tajikistan was won in judo by judokan Rasul Bokiyev, in the men's lightweight class (judo) at Beijing 2008.

As of now, Tajikistan will send seven athletes to London, to compete in four events-athletics, wrestling, taekwondo and boxing.
